It might not be wholly original, but that doesn't make it any less fun.

Prey is challenging, fun, thought provoking, and stylish. Arkane Studios did find some innovative ways to revive this genre in a good way but never really uses its full potential. Prey takes much from BioShock and Dishonored but it never manages to emerge from the shadows of these titles. All in all though, there’s plenty to do in Prey it’s not a bad pick-up for those who are interested in a lesser version of Dishonored that happens to take place in space… Perhaps at a sale price though. There were some features I liked about the game that were implemented extremely well, but then there were other things that I thought could have been done better. Ultimately, I think this new version of Prey is alright. I woke up early to play it and went to bed late because I didn't want to stop. Who needs a new Bioshock or Half Life game when we’re getting experiences like these? Proving that the studio has no shortage of interesting ideas, Prey is the perfect blend of thrilling action and thought provoking story. For example, in the first forty minutes there is something that most folks will not pick up on at all, but by the end of the game I felt like it had to be one of the best examples of plot threads flowing unbroken but not undisguised through a game in yearsĪs far as first person action games go, Arkane Studios is probably the best in the business. But Prey feels like a return to System Shock with some Deus Ex thrown in, where maybe Dishonored had you feeling like a God slicing dudes' heads off and you sliding into the darkness, whereas more about the cerebral gameplay, and the deeper you dive into this, the deeper you pay attention to the shit that's going on. It's not the most visually striking, but overall it looks amazing and especially when you consider and compare it to maybe underwater cities or those floating in the sky.
